I need opinions on hair extensions!!?

My hair is about 3-5 inches long. I'm gonna get hair extensions put it. But I cant decide if I want straight or wavy. I want them fairly long, at least past my shoulders. I've never put extensions in someones hair that was shorter than their shoulders. So I was wondering if anyone has seen extensions in someone with shorter hair. Does the shorter hair blend in well? Did the wavy look better than the straight? Or did it really matter either way. I want them to look as natural as possible. Thanx!

If your hair is less than 5 inches long depending on your cut, you may want to wait a couple months on extensions. If you have a miracle worker hairdresser however, she might be able to pull if off successfully.

If your natural hair is a bit wavy definitely go with the wavy extensions. If you put straight hair under your natural hair the line of demarcation will definitely be visible. If your natural hair is straight I recommend the straight extensions of course, but being that your hair is so short at the moment, even if the hair color matches perfectly, your real hair will most likely be clearly visible and could actually contrast the extensions. I used to be a hairdresser and I always thought that short hair usually did not look great with long extensions. My eye always noticed no matter how well the color and texture matched.

If you are dead set on getting extensions, keep them above or right at the shoulder until your natural hair grows at least 3 more inches. At this length you can get them cut with chunky layers so if your natural hair is sticking out a bit, there is no contrast because it will look like another purposely cut layer.

A COMPLETELY different alternative would be to just get a wig! If your extensions are going to cost a lot of money, you may want to consider a human hair wig. The best wigs available are "french lace front" or "swiss lace front" wigs. (Do a google search for "lace front wig".) They are made to look like real hair growing from your hairline!

i used to have extentions. my hair was a little above shoulder length. my hairs naturally really curly and i had wavy ones put in. it was real hair so i was able to straighten it and they blended in really great. id recommend the wavy ones cause that way you can wear it wavy or striahgt
