a friend once told me that hair extensions are a no-no. it can damage your real hair. but if u've got lotsa bucks why not give it a go just for the experience. with the technology at this age, there's always solution to whatever hair woes there could be.

Hair extentions are really awesome if you get the real ones, but they are extremely costly.

Though, there are many prices everywhere.

The common way of putting them in is through a weave in your hair, they combine the extension with your real hear at the scalp.

Warnings: It will be itchy more than anything else. And be prepared for your hair to fall out, because it will.

Well i'll advise you to get human hair extensions firstly. Also, there are many ways to get them in: weaving in, heat fusing, gluing, clamping with metal rods or using waxes and polymers. The one i've tried is heat fusing... because i've heard that weaving in breaks your hair when they come out.

Not everyones hair goes with extensions. There are some hair types that reject extensions and so they come out after a few weeks. But other than that, they should last you a good few months.

Here are a few tips on maintaining them:

Wash, condition and MOISTURIZE (very important) your hair every 2 - 3 days. The extensions do not receive your natural scalp oils and so need to have moisture added every wash. If you don't moisturize your hair extensions they will become brittle and break easily leading to split and ratty ends

If straightening your hair, avoid putting heat on the area where it has been attached.

Take care of them because they can be quite costly

Generally, you'll love them... instant long hair, who wouldnt? lol enjoy them :)

If you want hair extensions, and you don't want to damage your hair, you should look into clip in hair extensions. They won't damage your hair. They're more affordable. They can last longer. You can put them in yourself.

I really like the Jessica Simpson brand of clip in hair extensions by Hairdo. They come in both synthetic and human hair. Synthetic clip ins by Hairdo cost about $90 - $100; they last about 3 months. Human hair clip ins by hairdo cost about $450 and last for a year. Put in Pieces and Hair U Wear are also quality brands.

I hope you find what works for you and I hope you have fun with your new extensions!
